Did Vladimir Putin Pocket Robert Kraft's Super Bowl Ring?

It isn't clear if it was a gift or a misunderstanding, but Russian President Vladimir Putin recently pocketed Robert Kraft's 124-diamond Super Bowl XXXIX ring. Kraft, the New England Patriots owner, is said to have shown the ring to Putin, who tried it on--and kept it.

The NFL pays for 150 rings for the winning team, putting limits on what they'll spend per ring. If a team wants additional or more expensive rings it pays for them. There were reports that the Patriots purchased a sizeable number of extras for win number 3, so it's possible that Kraft, who reportedly has business interests in Russia, meant for Putin to keep the ring, which is now on display at the Kremlin library. Update: Robert Kraft stated to the press that he gave the ring to Vladimir Putin.
