Prong settings are the most popular method used to hold diamonds and other gems in place, but there are lots of other setting styles to choose from. One type holds a row of gems in a metal channel. Another, called an invisible setting holds gems side-by-side and makes it look like you're wearing a solid surface of gemstones. A bezel setting wraps snugly around each gem with a round ring that resembles a very short turtleneck collar. That's a start. Each photo tour gives you a good look at the setting variations you'll see when you shop for jewelry.
