Friday April 11, 2008
Sotheby's expected to sell this 72+ carat diamond for about $13-million dollars this week, but it was removed from the auction when bids failed to meet its reserve price. The pear-shaped gem is graded D, the color designation given to rare totally colorless diamonds. It's reported that Sotheby's is working to arrange a private sale for the diamond.Photo Mario Tama/Getty Images
