Don't feel alone if you are, because there are all sorts of terms used to describe necklaces, and the terms that describe their lengths are just the beginning. From there every style branches off into lots of variations.

Chokers- are wrapped round the neck but sometimes can lie on the base of the neck.

Collars- As the name inmplies, sit on the collar bone or just below it. Most necklaces are about this length.

Lariats and ropes- are usually one long piece of neclace that can wrapped round i any style you fancy. Lariats may also have one end hooped to allow easy wear…

Most designers exclude the clasp when stating jewellery measurements. If you’re buying from a handmade jeweller, it’s always worth asking if your jewellery could be made longer/shorter. This can usually be done at o extra cost to you.

Remember also that it is important to judge the type of necklace with the clothing that you are going to ware. If you have a dress with a plunging neckline it will look very inappropriate to ware a choker.
