| Own a Piece of Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater | |||||||||||||||||
Fallingwater was named Building of the 20th Century by the American Institute of Architects. The home was built on the site of a former summer camp, using materials from the land for much of its construction. Fallingwater remained the Kaufmann family's vacation home until 1963, when it was entrusted to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy. The WPC conveys a few thoughts about the home in this statement: "As Wright's masterpiece, Fallingwater expresses the essence of Wright's organic architecture, which sprang from his love for the land, his desire to create an American art form, and his faith in new technology." A recent multi-million dollar renovation stabilized the structure and began what's sure to be an ongoing effort to restore Fallingwater and maintain it in its original condition.
What Does Fallingwater Have to Do with Jewelry? Pieces of the original structure were recovered during Fallingwater's restoration and have been fashioned into jewelry. Cara Markowitz of C.linea Designs in New York City selected the pieces, which are each suspended in a crystal-clear resin and set with sterling silver. The jewelry is available exclusively through the Fallingwater Museum Store. You can wear a piece of Fallingwater in the form of bracelets, earrings, pendants, chokers, and even cuff links. The perfect gift for any Frank Lloyd Wright fan, and a wonderful way to support the Conservancy's work.
