Chandelier earrings and diamond drops were once again a favorite, but we also saw many examples of large ball-like and beaded earrings, some set with gemstones and others more subdued.
Reese Witherspoon's earrings were a lovely example, three staggered globes on each that dropped below her ears and glittered ever so slightly when she turned her head. Not overpowering, but a subtle and elegant look that worked with her Chanel retroish shorter gown.
Kate Beckinsale was one of several celebs who chose earrings with pendant-like drops made up of a single--sometimes huge--gemstone surrounded by smaller gems.
Sarah Jessica Parker wore a darker to diamond-white gem-studded necklace that became broader as it wrapped around her neck towards the throat, where a large cluster of gems was centered. Its length was somewhere between the range of a choker and a collar. She looked stunning--as usual.
Mary-Louise Parker wore a long lariat-like necklace, delicate but showy. Several other women wore lariats of varying lengths, but necklaces in general were in short supply.
Awards presentations aren't usually my favorite TV shows, but they are an excellent place to get a preview of jewelry and fashions for men and women, and even if you don't think they're the best looks around, they're always interesting.
