Jewelry at Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week is held each September and February to introduce all types of fashion and accessory lines that will be introduced during the next season. A large group of jewelry designers are always there to display their new looks, and their displays are usually a good indicator of jewelry trends to watch for the following season.

Sometimes a few colors overshadow others. Spring 2007 fashion and accessory lines are varied but there are some color trends to watch for:

• Southwestern colors like tan, clay, orange and brown

• Cool water colors like greens, blues, silver and white

• Warm reds and fuchsia

• Ink-like colors accented with gold

Jewelry and accessories flatter the new fashions and a few trends are obvious:

• Lots of silver and gold

• Sculpted resins in smooth but bold designs

• Smoothly carved organic materials like coconut and horn

• Peridot, chalcedony and blue topaz
