The Woman Behind the String-Ring:
Tina Mansfield is tired of bullying, campus violence, escalating teen suicide and a general disrespect among co-workers, and decided to create a piece of jewelry to make people more mindful of the way they treat others. This mom put her graphic design training to work and came up with the String-Ring — The Kindness Reminder, a sterling silver ring that symbolizes tying a string around a finger to help us remember something we're supposed to do -- in this case the task is to treat each other with respect and kindness.
What Comes with a String-Ring?:
Each sterling silver String-Ring comes with a set of ten strings, and each color represents a particular act of kindness. Red or pink signifies love, white reminds us of peace and simplicity, yellow tells us to be optimistic -- each color has a meaning.
Customize the strings with bows, beads and special knots to make your ring match your thoughts. Wind two strings together as a reminder to focus on two acts of kindness during the day.
String-Rings for Awareness:
The first 100 String-Rings were donated to The Rachel’s Challenge Project. Rachel was the first victim of the 1999 Columbine school shooting, and her father, Darrell Scott, speaks to high-school students worldwide, hoping to promote kindness and tolerance.
How Much Does the String-Ring Cost?:
At press time, rings were priced at $24.95 each.
Where Can I Buy a String-Ring?:
