Piercing Guns
- I had my first, second and cartilage pierced with the gun and had no problems. I got my first and cartilage done at the mall and I got my second holes done at my friend's house because that is what her grandma does for a living. You just need to have someone who is good at what they are doing you should ask them to clean the gun right in front of you.

Guns are better
- I got my first set of ears pierced when i was 14 with a gun at claires and i had ablsolutely no problems with them. I saw the lady clean everything thourghly beforehand which made me feel better and less nervous. I got my second set of ears pierced yesterday also with a gun and got no problems and its a lot quicker. It depends on your ears and what earring you chose to pierce it with, to wether you get an infection or not. If you choose basic stainless stell earring and dont directly play about with your newly pierced earrings and make sure that you clean them throughly twice a day, then there will definately be no problems and they will remain free from infection. Its when people choose cheap earrings, dont clean them properly twice a day and keep touching them when they have germy hands that gives them an infection. If guns were so bad then they would be banned and infact the needle is worse because its more painful and takes longer to pierce whereas a gun is over in 2 seconds.

Guns vs Needles
- I got my firsts with a gun. Only one of my ears got infected but I'm okay now. I know that my piercer Hannah (she works at claires) was like a pro, she did accuratly with no hestitation. When I get my second holes for my birthday this year, I'm most likely going back to Claires. But I know for sure when I get my cartilage done, I'm going to a tattoo shop. But yeah, if you don't trust claires go to a tattoo shop. In my opinon I personally think needles are better than guns. Even though they take longer and possibly more painful and expensive, your ears will thank you. Even though guns maybe painless, stick with the needle its healthier. Good luck and have your piercing! :D

Horrendous.
- My very first piercings were done with a gun when I was about eight. My mom just didn't know any better and was too afraid of tattoo shops. I can't pierce my ears again until I see a dermatologist to drain the fluids that are still caught inside my first piercings ten years later. Me and my mother were extremely careful to follow the aftercare which I know now is quite literally everything you should not do. Alcohol and "turning" destroys healing tissue. And piercing guns literally are incapable of being sterilized. Alcohol swabs don't do anything in the way of preventing viruses. And the body fluids just get all over the gun. Even ones with disposable cartridges still harbor bacteria that comes in direct contact with each piercee. Who's idea was it to force blunt jewelry through body tissue? It's ridiculous. If you want a piercing go so someone who actually does this for a living. A two week training seminar and years or pulling a little trigger doesn't make you a piercer.

Prefers the Gun
- I had mine done with both and honestly prefer the gun. Easier and less stress and pain.

Not meaning to gross anyone out, but . .
- Almost 20 years ago I had my ear cartilage pierced in a salon, which a gun. Do not ever do that. It never healed, so I let it close up. However, my skin is dead there and I've had a gray circle on my ear all these years. On a happier note, I had my navel pierced about 15 years ago with a needle and I've never had a problem with it.

Needle is awesome
- I wouldn't use a gun, a needle is painless and easy.

Needles vs. Piercing Guns
- I got my first set of piercings done when I was five, at Claire's with the gun. I had no trouble with infections but most of my friends did. However, two days ago, I got my second and third set done by my a professional at a tattoo parlor. He advised me against the gun and told me the dangers of it. Not sterile, crushes the skin, blunt earringa, etc. He really knew what he was doing and where to pierce it so it didn't hit a nerve. They have much more education at the parlors as opposed to the people who operate the guns.

I think they CAN be fine
- I've just had my helix pierced at a tattoo/piercing studio and it was done with a gun. However the earring is more pointed than a normal one and was done by a professional

Guns are awful.
- Although there is nothing wrong with my current piercings, which were done with a piercing gun (I took really good care of them) piercing guns aren't good. They use a blunt piercing stud that tears through your skin and could potentially damage it. With a needle you are using a sharp edged hollow needle that safely cute through your skin. Also, NEVER get your cartilage pierced with a gun. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I Hate Piercings
- I have no time for piercing! When I was 16 years old, I had a summer job in a department store. An older lady came in one day and her ear lobes in the center were gone from wearing earrings that were too heavy for pierced ears. I was sick as a dog when I saw it and from that day to this, 57 years later, I cannot stand pierced ears, especially when people turn earrings around in their ears. Some time ago I was in a mall and I heard a baby about two months old crying, and when I passed one of the booths in the centre isle of the mall, here was the baby who was having her ears pierced. The mother was holding the child while the father was looking on smiling. I was heartsick and all I kept saying was "what a sin" The father looked at me and said nothing. That is nothing short of child abuse and the parents should be charged with it . I went to the women who did it and I told her it should be against the law for her or anyone else to do something terrible like that to a child.
- —Guest I know nothing about the guns
Super experience
- I had my first holes done in a doctor's office 34 years ago. The second set was done at the mall. I had no problems with either. Both people who did it were extremely careful to get them in the right spot.

Slanted uneven holes from needle
- My ears were pierced about 40 yrs ago with a needle, albeit under extreme trauma, and the earrings which I still have are so close to my face that I cannot wear studs as they dig in - so it's only sleepers or hook earrings, and they are also are like going through an up and down tunnel to get in. I'm used to it now, but its like in, down, across, down and out, my gunned piercings are just straight through and it surprises me every time :) I would say the operator is key.

Guns/Needles
- I had my first set done when I was 9 yrs old at a tattoo parlor by a needle at my Mum's request. It hurt like anything and my ears were infected and I had problems for 10 years plus with pain etc. The holes are so close to my face that I can't wear studs even. I've also had my ears done twice more with a gun and had no trouble at all. although never thought about the health aspect. Am contemplating a nose piercing now and they do it with the gun in the jeweler's but say you need to replace the stud with a nose stud after 2 days as the stud 'earring' is too big - that doesn't sound like any fun either, so Ive contacted the local tattoo place to see how they do the procedure. I also have a very narrow nose and to be honest I think the stud would come through my nose and bang into the other side if pierced with a gun. I'm figuring my experience at 9yo was a bad one for reasons other than the method as it was nearly 40 years ago! I would now seriously consider the health aspects.
